President Rodrigo Duterte’s playful streak was on display once again on Tuesday (March 7) as he jokingly reprimanded a Department of Agriculture official for showing off her legs.
“Berna, nadis-distract ako, you close your legs. National TV ‘no. Nakikinig pa ba ang papa mo?” Duterte said during a speech in Malacañang, referring to Agriculture Undersecretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat, daughter of newly appointed Development Bank of the Philippines chairman Alberto Romulo.
The President’s remark drew laughter from the audience.
Duterte has made no secret of his admiration for Puyat, a widow.
In an article posted online in October 2015, the then-mayor described Puyat as his ideal first lady because “she is dignified.”
Photos of them holding hands at an event also circulated online, fueling speculation about a special relationship they might have had.
